About this property

Summary

Wide open fields, room to run, and the river close by — Hares Hill Lodge is the only holiday lodge available to rent on Hales Hill Park, a peaceful riverside park just 20 minutes from York. With space to kick a ball, spot wildlife, and let the kids burn off energy right outside the door, it's built for family holidays where the outdoors does most of the entertaining. Sleeps up to 6.

Space

Hares Hill Lodge is a comfortable, family-friendly holiday home set on Hales Hill Park, surrounded by the park's fields and river frontage.

Sleeps 6:
Bedroom 1 – 1 double bed
Bedroom 2 – 2 single beds
Living room – sofa bed

The two bedrooms work well for up to 4 adults. The living room sofa bed adds capacity for 2 more (sleeping 6 in total), making it ideal for families — but if all 6 are adults, the space is on the snug side.

There's one family bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen (oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge-freezer, cookware, dishes & cutlery), and a dining area for family meals. Outside, you'll find your own furnished patio/decking with a BBQ — ideal for evenings after a day exploring the park or nearby York.

Access

Guests have full private access to the lodge itself, including a private entrance, kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor decking/patio area.

The wider park — including the fields and green open space — is shared with other lodge owners and campers on site, so you may see other guests around, particularly during busier periods. It's a friendly, low-key atmosphere rather than an exclusive-use site.

WiFi is available via the park's shared network

Neighborhood

Hales Hill Park sits in the quiet Yorkshire countryside near Appleton Roebuck, on the banks of the River Ouse, between Acaster Selby and Acaster Malbis. It's a genuinely peaceful spot — think open fields, riverside walks, and wildlife — while still being close enough to York for a proper day out.

Highlights nearby:
York — around 7 miles / 20 minutes by car, with York Minster, the Shambles, museums, galleries, and city-centre shopping
Castle Howard — a grand stately home and gardens, a short drive away
Flamingo Land Theme Park & Zoo — a popular family day out
Eden Camp — a hands-on wartime history museum, great for older kids
Countryside and riverside walking routes directly from the park

Transit

A car is recommended to make the most of the area — the park is on a quiet back road between Acaster Selby and Acaster Malbis, and while York is close by, public transport links from the park itself are limited.

1 parking space is available on-site for the lodge
Additional parking is available in a nearby public car park (spaces for up to 4 cars)
